Annabel Lahz is a director of lahznimmo architects, an established, design based architectural practice in Sydney specialising in public and urban projects. She is interested in the intersection of landscape, urban design and architecture. Through her work, Annabel has explored the sensory aspects of architecture in terms of: tactility, tectonics, light, shadow and materiality. She enjoys exploring the figurative as a starting point, imbuing a building with its own sense of life and character – showing that wit, humour and playfulness are important aspects to our environment. In 2017 Annabel commenced a ceramic practice in parallel with her architectural practice. Her ceramic work further explores the themes which inform her architectural work in a more abstract way through constructed landscapes, inhabited forms and playful figurative characters. The relationship between her architecture and ceramics is an ongoing dialogue and exploration.Annabel’s work received a commendation in the 2021 Saint Cloche Little Things art prize, and was selected to be part of the Defiance Art Galley 6x6x6 inch Miniature Sculpture Show in 2021 and the Gosford Regional Art Show in 2020.
